Watercolor paints in the following six colors: a primary yellow, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Cerulean, Ultramarine, and Quinacridone Red Rose Deep (these are the six colors I will use). You can purchase these six paint colors from me and use them in the tin they come in, or purchase this wonderful Meeden Watercolor Palette to transfer the paints into. Another option is this Windsor & Newton Travel Watercolor Palette which has most of the colors I use, and a few extra besides, and is an easy way to begin.

Pilot G-2 black ink pen (I use fine point 07)
Micron permanent pen (assorted sizes are great; something like 05 is a good choice for one)
Uni-ball Signo UM-153 white gel pen
Various black Sharpie pens: regular tip and ultra fine tip, brush tip is also great!

The Reading List (available with class purchase) contains many books that might aid your studies but in particular, consider the following three books:

For our class tea times:
Week Three: any black tea
Week Four: any coffee
Week Five: Kindred Spirits tea (blend of darjeeling and keemun)
Week Six:Lover's Lane (glorified Earl Grey blend with lavender and orange peel)

Sketchbooks & Watercolor Paper

*Stillman & Bern Beta series mixed media sketchbooks: I like the square size for posting online and the 8x10 size for traveling
OR
Canson Watercolor Sketchbook 9x12 or 7x10 (I'll be using the 9x12 sketchbook for the Nature Creative)
Canson Mixed Media Sketchbooks: I like these for children or for a cheaper sketchbook option. The paper is much thinner than Stillman & Bern so be aware of that -- harder to do layers of watercolor
Hand-Book Sketchbooks: I love these if you want something in a fun size with thinner paper for writing. They do tolerate some watercolor but not layers and layers. This is best if you want to write a lot.
Canson Watercolor Pad: I use this for many projects and finished artwork
Five Year Diary: this is my basic nature journal that I try to write in each day

Brushes
*Pentel Aquash Japan Waterbrush (Medium): this is what I use for nature journaling and travel sketching. Of all the water brushes I have tried, this performs the best.
Loew-Cornell Ultra Round Watercolor brushes sizes 4, 6, 8, 10: these are inexpensive watercolor brushes (you may find them somewhere other than Amazon at a better price)
Rosemary Watercolor Brushes: these are the best of the best! I have a size 8 travel brush that I love!

Paints
*Windsor & Newton Travel Watercolor Palette: this is an excellent set for nature journaling
Meeden Watercolor Palette: this is the palette I use for traveling and I fill it with my own choice of paints. My most-used colors come from Cheap Joe's American Journey watercolor paint line and are Joe's Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Quinacridone Red Rose Deep, Ultramarine, Cerulean Blue Hue, and Sap Green. Yellow Ochre is a wonderful color to have for the fall. *You can purchase my six-color paint palette on my website.

Pencils & Pens
*Pencil
*Pilot G-2 black ink pen (I use fine point 07)
*Micron permanent pen (assorted sizes are great; something like 05 is a good choice for one)
*Uni-ball Signo UM-153 white gel pen
*Various black Sharpie pens: regular tip and ultra fine tip

Miscellaneous
Clothespins for keeping sketchbooks open and pages separated
*Paper towels: Viva are my favorite!
*Painter's or Masking tape
Pencil sharpener: the Carl Angel-5 is beyond anything you've ever experienced!

Recommended Supplies for Keeping Christmas Class

Stillman & Bern Zeta series sketchbook: this sketchbook has wonderfully thick paper for watercolor but a very smooth texture to make writing very easy. This is an ideal sketchbook to turn into the "Christmas Journal" that we make together in class. Or, you may choose a sketchbook of your choice.
Canson Watercolor Paper at least 11x15: this will be used to create the advent calendar as well as gift tags and cards.
Watercolor paints: I will be using my own six-color palette in the class. It can be found for sale here. Or, you can use something like the Windsor & Newton Travel Watercolor Palette for the class.
3/4-inch flat brush (for the advent calendar) Here is a basic brush that can be used. You may use one you already have, or buy a more expensive one
Size 10, 4, and 2 round watercolor brushes (for advent calendar) Here is an example brush.

For teatime:
Welsh Breakfast tea
Check out this lovely option straight from the Tudor family

Fresh Boxwood
4 6-inch wax taper candles or LED candles

Uni-ball Signo UM-153 white gel pen
Various black Sharpie pens: regular tip and ultra fine tip

If you plan to bake the recipes included in this course, along with regular baking supplies like flour, butter, and sugar, please have molasses, ground ginger, caraway seeds, and dried fruit like raisins, golden raisins, and dried currants. Almond flour is called for in a number of recipes but is optional. Candied ginger is also optional.

If you want to drink tea as authentically as possible, you need to obtain some black tea of Chinese origin like Twining's Prince of Wales tea or Republic of Tea Golden Yunnan. If you have an international grocery store near you, you may find black tea of Chinese origin available there. It would also be nice to have an Indian tea like Assam, and some English Breakfast tea.

It would be helpful to have one of Beatrix Potter's stories on hand such as Peter Rabbit or The Tale of Mrs. Tiggywinkle. Or, a compilation such as A Beatrix Potter Treasury.

If you'd like to invest in a few books for this class, I would highly recommend the following two:

Recommended for Nature & Nurture (All Creatures Great and Small)
Watercolor paints in the following six colors: a primary yellow, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Cerulean, Ultramarine, and Quinacridone Red Rose Deep (these are the six colors I will use). You can purchase these six paint colors from me and use them in the tin they come in, or purchase this wonderful Meeden Watercolor Palette to transfer the paints into. Micron permanent pen (assorted sizes are great; something like 05 is a good choice for one)
Uni-ball Signo UM-153 white gel pen
Various black Sharpie pens: regular tip and ultra fine tip
Optional: I find that it's easiest for me to write with a felt-tip marker or pen on thick watercolor paper and so I love using Tombow brush pens for writing in my nature journal.

A copy of All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
Yorkshire Gold tea for tea parties as well as some candied cherries for the first recipe if you want the recipe to look authentic.

Recommended for Journaling Spring
Windsor & Newton Travel Watercolor Palette or watercolor paints in the following six colors: a primary yellow, Burnt Sienna, Sap Green, Cerulean, Ultramarine, and Quinacridone Red Rose Deep (these are the six colors I will use)
pencil
Pilot G-2 black ink pen (I use fine point 07)
Micron permanent pen (assorted sizes are great; something like 05 is a good choice for one)
Uni-ball Signo UM-153 white gel pen
Various black Sharpie pens: regular tip and ultra fine tip
Optional: colored pencils, colored markers

Recommended for Journaling Winter
Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna, and Yellow Ochre watercolors or Windsor & Newton Travel Watercolor Palette
Pencil
Eraser
Black pen
white crayon
Fine point and Extra Fine Point Sharpies

Books mentioned in Journaling Winter:
The Tree Identification Book by George W.D. Symonds
The Wild Remedy by Emma Mitchell
The Christmas Chronicles by Nigel Slater

Specifically for the Fall Foliage Class
*The Tree Identification Book by George W.D. Symonds -- this is an excellent book for tree and leaf identification. It would be a wonderful tool to have around.

Specifically for the Christmas Botanicals Class
If you are choosing your own watercolor palette, I would opt for Alizarin Crimson over Quinacridone Red Rose as the Alizarin gives a more Christmas red. Alizarin is not necessary if you want to stick with whatever you have.
A Pentel Aquash Waterbrush (Fine) as well as the waterbrush with a medium tip (see above under brushes). The fine brush is also optional -- the medium brush will work.
Canson watercolor paper to make Christmas gift tags, cards, etc.
Field Artist Journal -- if you want a fun little sketchbook just for Christmas-time, this would be great to try!
