Words and Wool

I've made quite a bit of progress on Laura's TINY tea leaves cardi this week! I just bound off the bottom and need to begin the sleeves.

I'm quite happy with the way the sweater is fitting. I opted for the size 4 instead of size 2 and I think the sweater will fit this year and into next year! Laura is also happy with it. Her newest favorite saying is, "I love......" and she fills in the blank with whatever pops into her head at the moment.

Another day with Rachel and her friends today and we did more cooking, baking, and sewing. Here we are cutting out quilts. We are all cutting out 5-inch squares and each of us will have a different pattern (4 blocks, 9 patch, single square, diamonds). I find working with the girls so much fun.

As for reading,

Call the Midwife: A Memoir of Birth, Joy, and Hard Times by Jennifer Worth was completed this past week. I LOVED this book! I wrote about it last week and will be recommending it to everyone (with the caveat of the too descriptive descriptions of places of ill repute in the center of the book). I still have to start watching the miniseries! And, I'm going to need to track down the rest of Worth's books, which seem to be out of print and not obtainable by the library. Another thing I loved about this book was the very, very subtle way in which Worth wove in her own maturing and coming to faith, ending the book with this very sentence: "That night I began to read the Gospels." I would like to read a biography of Jennifer Worth but I don't believe there is one.

Boundaries: When to Say YES, When to Say NO, To Take Control of Your Life by  Henry Cloud and John Townsend is a book I am re-reading and telling myself I should re-read every year. I am finding this book very helpful for evaluating relationships and my role in them. I hope that I will not just comprehend the material but really put it into practice.

Numerous other books are lying around in various stages of reading. I shall let you know when I finish them!

Your sweater is looking great! Love the neutral tone. Thanks for recommending Call the Midwife. I ordered it from the library,

Okay, I will definitely read that!

I caught the last part of episode 2 and it looked good. I can't remember why I couldn't see it all... most likely someone watching a football game. ;)

It was followed by a behind the scenes look at the show where they talked about how much fun it is working with all the babies.

They said even the cameramen will tear up at some of the scenes, they are so real.

What a lovely sweater. I think starting many sentences with "I love..." and filling in the blank is an excellent approach to life!

Your living room scene looks like SO much fun.
