Mondays are for Grace

"For grace is given not because we have done good works,
but in order that we may be able to do them."

--Augustine

Today is our first day of school! We are all excited and I also have a slight bit of trepidation. The year will be very full and it will be an exercise in walking day by day and grace by grace.

Good news here in Dundalk...

Sean is saved! The Lord converted him three weeks ago and he is being baptised on Saturday. I can't tell you how happy we all are, Sean included! Below is his story...

My parents are Christians and I always wanted to be one. On several occasions I asked God to save me but He didn't because I didn't have the right intentions. In July we visited a church in Markethill and a woman there called Jane gave mum two christian DVDs. I watched the short 11 minute gospel message and thought it was really clear so afterwards I asked God to forgive me and save me., but I was convinced that He wouldn't because He hadn't in the past. A week or so later mum and I watched the other DVD. It was a story about how a violent man called Tony Anthony became a Christian. When it was finished mum and I had a talk about God and salvation and again I asked God to forgive me. I really, really wanted Him to save me but I was convinced that He wouldn't.

The next morning mum gave me plenty of scripture about having faith and believing and I read them. Later that evening I had a talk with my parents and told them I thought God wouldn't save me. They told me that salvation is a gift from God but that faith to believe is also a gift and they encouraged me to pray and ask God for faith to believe Him. So, I prayed silently to God and asked Him to give me faith. Later that night I asked God to forgive me and save me and he did. Several days later, God showed me a scripture. It is is Matthew 9;2, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.
Now I know I am forgiven and I am not afraid of going to hell. I am at peace about it all.
