Our favorite part of the parade was the Rottweiler who rode by:
The children just loved the parade, especially catching all the candy!
We tried hard to convince our visitors that the Fourth of July is not usually in the lower 60's. Really, it's usually in the 90's. I'm not sure they really believed us. It was a struggle to stay warm.

We had a wonderful cookout at my sister's in-laws after the parade:

Tea was a necessity. Fortunately, my sister has indoctrinated her husband and his family very well!
The men headed up to the roof to discuss repairs to the house:
Then we all headed to the local park for a bit of fun:
We watched the Lemon Shake-ups and the Elephant Ears being made:
And the girls had their faces painted:
Then it was time for dessert, which included this incredible flourless chocolate cake:
And homemade iceream -- another first for our visitors:
By the time dinner rolled around we were all ready to head for home and a dinner of homemade soup. I guess I was proven wrong -- soup on the Fourth of July actually fit with the weather!

Lovely photos! That dog looks like he's actually laughing. The photos still look summery in spite of the cooler weather. What a great time it looks like you all had.

Your pictures are wonderful Heather - what a special way to spend Independence Day! That flourless chocolate cake looks soooo good - and with the price of flour on the rise, that's a recipe I'd like to have (hint hint)! I am glad the soup went over well!
What a great time and beautiful pictures! I was bundled up for the parade and our evening activities, too! I don't remember it ever being so chilly.
It looks a lot different from the celebrations here in Ireland! I think your sisters table looked very inviting, especially what she did with the melon!
